Dressing Gowns Inspire the Hottest 2010 Red Carpet Looks

With most of the 2010 award ceremonies behind us it is a good time to reflect on the hot looks that grabbed our attention and held it this year.

On the star-studded red carpets of France, the United Kingdom and the United States in 2010 one cannot help but observe the number of stunning gowns that were worn by celebrities remarkably resembling the style of a dressing gown.

To wear a dress that resembles a dressing gown is certainly no bad thing in my mind, the style of a floor length wrap around dress is unquestionably glamorous. The popularity of the wrap dress, is in part due to its effortless ease and comfort of wear but also because of the flattering effect that a wrap has on the many varied female forms, hugging a woman's curves perfectly regardless of shape and size.

A wrap style is a dress with a front closure that is created by literally wrapping one side across the other and either buttoning or tying the two into a knot or bow. A wrap highlights the feminine form yet flatters every figure. The wrap dress was a creation of fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg who invented the style in 1976. The wrap is one of the few fashion sensations that has stood the test of time still being favoured today by many fashion-conscious women around the world.

Several stars including Jennifer Lopez, Mark Kate Olsen and Nicole Richey were spotted wearing the most fashionable long sleeve wraparound maxi dresses. Long, floor or ankle-length, form-fitting dresses that looked remarkably similar to the style of a wraparound dressing gown and we applaud the look. So both the dressing gown and the wrap dress has stood the test of time, continuing to be favoured by the stars of today.
